James Mirtle reports both sides of the Nylander talks are starting to lean towards a bridge deal.

Lebrun reports Carolina are monitoring the Nylander situation. Reports Brett Pesce could be a trade target if it comes to that.

Just signed a 6 year deal at $4M AAV.

Pass.

Is he not a top 4 d-man?

It would be like Hall for Larsson.

Nylander is hardly at Hall's level, but yea... it's like taking a top line forward and getting a second-pairing defensemen in return. It's not a good return.

The asking price is now $9m after that display against St. Louis.

I am kind of hoping for a sign and trade

No.? Bad.

This team is a lot better with Nylander in the lineup.
And there aren't many teams looking to give up the kind of young defenceman we would want in exchange.
Bring Willy back, it makes all the lines better.

He's one of those guys who appreciates "loyalty" above all else. It's bullshit, but you'll bever convince them otherwise.?

Kypreos reporting they're working on a 6-year deal. Buys one UFA year. He's speculating between $6.5 - $7-million per year.

Matthews ruled out for Monday against Calgary.

Trade him while he still has value.

Practice lines, sans Matthews.

Hyman - Tavares - Kapanen
Marleau - Kadri - Marner
Johnsson - Lindholm - Brown
Ennis - Goat - Leivo

I would ask - bare minimum - for multiple 1st round picks, the two or three top prospects from an organization and at least two young roster players with worthwhile upside.

Only comparable in NHL history wold be the Eric Lindros trade.

Multiple 1st round picks, Quality roster player, two best prospects, etc.

It would be interesting. Kinda like parting out a car for more than the value of the car itself. Arizona would probably step up, but what do they have?

Arizona doesn't have the money that Matthews will command, particularly because he will be after a signing-bonus heavy deal.
